Sharon has practised Iyengar yoga for many years, starting when she lived in England and was taught by Senior teacher Cathy Rodgers Evans. Since she came back to Derry she opened the Derry Yoga & Pilates centre with Evelyn Donnelly, where Sharon teaches and hosts visiting Iyengar teachers.
Evelyn Donnelly (Derry)
Evelyn has been teaching yoga for 17 years. She comes from an athletic background and has represented Northern Ireland in many European cross country championships. Evelyn traded her running shoes for a yoga mat and finds Iyengar yoga to be the best yoga for athletes. It's a well known fact that athletes are prone to injury and she believes the Iyengar method is the best yoga to bring balance into the body.
Evelyn trained with the amazing Pen Reed at Sligo yoga centre. She brought Iyengar teacher training to Derry with Senior Iyengar teachers Dave Browne and Diane Coates. Evelyn's involvement in the Foyle Institute of Iyengar Yoga is also in recognition of her contribution - she remains passionate about developing Iyengar yoga in the northwest and beyond.
Nowadays Evelyn enjoys cycling as well as yoga, as anyone who meets her will soon find out!
